• I’m looking to do a site for a church that lists various recurring activities (like Sunday School, youth activities on wednesdays, study groups, that sort of thing). On those pages, I want a common set of text widgets, one each for time, location, and contact information for that event. I’m using the Genesis framework and am able to do a custom sidebar for each page, and put a text widget in each, but that’s not going to scale well. Ideally, I’d have some custom fields on the page where I could input that metadata and a single sidebar with text widgets that then puts that information in those widgets.

Is there a plugin that can do this, or what’s my best bet?

Or am I just better off using an events plugin like Events Made Easy?

  • I’m not sure I’ve understood the requirement correctly. It sounds like Sunday School (for example) should be a category and each Sunday School event should be a post in that category. Then a single widget could work out what page it’s on and display information from the appropriate posts. I don’t know whether existing plugins would support this, though.
