Continue reading next in sequence from last visit

Hello,

I am working on a project which would really benefit from being able to automatically take a logged in user to the ‘next’ post (in date order) as compared with the last post they read on their previous visit. It would be very nice if this operation could optionally be associated with a link or button in the UI (e.g. “Continue reading …”)

I have previously used a plug-in which allows a user to mark posts as read or unread, or to bookmark posts. But, this does not make it quite simple enough. It would be great if the site could act like a digital book with a primary bookmark (“where was I last?”)

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?
