Twice this week and once about a month ago, when I tried to update WordPress to latest version I get the internal server error. Each time I try to work with BlueHost chat to resolve it. The first time I was informed it was the Fluida Theme. Fluida said it wasn’t on their side. My web person updated theme to a WP theme, then this week it happened again. Twice. Each time, BlueHost disabled all plugins, manually updated WP, then activated the plugins. When I went back as an admin the Update button was still “red” indicating an update available. When I hit it, you guessed it: Internal Server error again. I hit the back button and can go forward with my work, but apparently I cannot ever update WP version. The final answer from BlueHost was that it was the JetPack plug in, which I have NO access to on my side. Any ideas? (Yes, I’ve cleared the cache. Logged out. Tried different browsers.)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

This will also have the effect of updating WordPress to the latest version.
