• Resolved proverbs31woman

I recently shifted my site to a new server and have a number of members that need to be able to edit their own individual pages. It was working fine on the old server but something just isn’t working right on the new server. The member plugin is installed, I also have Wishlist plugin.

Each member has been assigned the contributor role and that role has been granted the ability to edit their page. Each can login and view their page but the edit function isn’t showing up and I can’t figure out why. I’ve read lots of posts here but nothing seems to describe my problem.

Hoping someone might be able to put some light on this for me please. Site is https://www.vadirectory.net. Thank you.

  • Just to clarify your configuration, as I believe I’ve just replicated this on a test site:

Members plugin by Justin Tadlock installed
    – User1 given the Contributor role
    – In Users > Roles, gave the Contributor role the “edit_pages” capability
    – As the administrator, created and published a page … “My Test Page”
    – Assigned User1 as the author on “My Test Page”

With that configuration, User1 is able to see the Pages section in wp-admin and can see “My Test Page”, but is unable to edit it.

Try adding the “edit_published_pages” capability to the Contributor role – only then will they be able to make changes to pages that have already been published.

Ok, thank you, I’ll give that a try and yes, you replicated that exactly….

Bingo! It worked, thank you so much. Much appreciated.
