Contributors comments have to be moderated

  • A number of existing commenters have been added to the site as contributors but now, whenever they leave a comment, either on their own contribution or other posts, it is marked as pending approval.

    I now have to approve every one of their comments

    I have the ‘commenter must have had a previous comment approved’ setting on as this is one of the best ways of combating spam

    Is this normal or a bug?

    See if you have made it mandatory that comments have to be approved (check box) before they appear as published.

    An administrator must always approve the comment >> UNCHECKED
    Comment author must have a previously approved comment >> CHECKED

    My point is that the relevant commenter has already had several hundred comments on the system and did not need approval before they became contributors.

    Now, since they become contributors rather than just people who comment, each of their comments has to be approved

    What you have now is a system that I have never used. The problem may be the change of status. What you may do is approve a few comments and see if they are still queued up for approval.
