• Hello.

I want to open my WP blog to Contributors to be able to post. But without going to the Dashboard and see all those options. Also the register/login must be totally replaced by something done in the Frontend.

I have spend a week to search and try various solutions and plugins, with very limited success.

I do know there are several people doing this, i would like to know how.

    Thanks

have you searched the wordpress docs about user roles? have you searched the plugins repository for user roles plugins? wordpress does this natively…

Yes i extensively searched what you suggest. Some work, some do not.

I haven’t found a complete way to do it. Replace the login/register pages, have the members to post and edit their posts from Frontpage, and totally hide the admin bar, the dashboard etc etc.

when people with different access levels log in and access the dashboard they see only the things they need to see in order to use the site at the level they’re on. they don’t see all the bells and whistles that you do as an admin.

create a dummy account on your site at subscriber level and log in with it and see what they see, then upgrade them to the next level and so on.

you can hide the admin menu completely: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/what-everybody-ought-to-know-about-the-wordpress-admin-bar/

Thanks, i have done all that. As i said, using some plugins, some work, some do not. Some plugin does one thing but doesn’t do something else. And at the end having 3 plugins to do what i want, gets complicated and heavy.

How other people do it, i wonder. It is so simple, having a blog and let people post and edit their posts, without seeing any admin parts or menus or admin bars.

well, it sounds like you’re trying to undo much of wordpress’s core features. you can either learn the code and hack the crap out of it (i don’t recommend that though, your changes will get overwritten when you upgrade) or you can use a few plugins to do the heavy lifting.
