Controlling Layout of recent posts in home page

Hi Experts,
A newbie here so plz tolerate if its a silly thing. I would like to layout my recent posts on my Home page in a tiled manner where posts are displayed with an image and an excerpt in a 3×3 or 4×4 grid. I am using tesseract theme by Tyler. I was trying to get the layout as in this site https://www.scoopwhoop.com/. Is it possible with my current theme..I tried using the extended recent posts plugin, but could not control the look and feel. Request help!!
