Controlling order of books

Not really a bug, but another request for new functionality. I’d love to be able to control the order of books, particularly within series, so that they show up in order on the screen.
Right now I am faking this out by altering the “published date” for each book entry in the library. The older the date, the farther down the list – so when I add a new book to a series, I fake the date as being from last year, so it gets added to the end of the series instead of the beginning.
But it’d be so much nicer to just have index numbers or series numbers so I could say “this is book 5” and have it sort by series number. Would be great to be able to indicate an order for the main books or author page, too – since my authors have such a huge back catalog we’d like to keep certain books on the main/first page at all times, and to be able to give these a prominent index number (instead of having to kludge around with the dates) would be so much easier.
