I’ve recently installed WP locally without issue. I’ve noticed the database schema and it doesn’t really jive with my own blog’s database.

Long story made short: I’ve run a blog for over 5 years that was homegrown long before most of these types of systems… It runs on Access and .asp and I’d really like to port in the many, many posts and even comments, if at all a reality.

Is there any sort of conversion tool that someone may have written to match fields, etc. and export / import the content back in? I cannot imagine that I’m the only one to go through this, but I also am not naive enough to think that it’s all that common of a problem.

    Any assistance is truly appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Roughy

  • Get yourself a tool like Navicat MySQL. It has a table import function. I used it to import my old Access entries. Just had to do a bit of manual work to get the comments to point to the correct posts.

Does your old blog generate RSS feeds? If so, that may be an option as WP has an RSS importer.
