Conversion of ACF Custom Field

Can you provide some detail on how you’re attempting to do this?

Hi David, I’m using:

$cost = get_field( ‘mp_pricing_cost);
echo do_shortcode( ‘[convert number=’ . $cost . ‘ from=”gbp” to=”usd”]’ );

And what output do you get?

echo do_shortcode( ‘[convert number=’. $cost .’ from=”gbp” to=”usd”]’ );
Returns ‘0.00’
I tried outputting $cost and that displays the correct ACF value without conversion.

Does it make any different if you try wrapping the code in quote? For example…

echo do_shortcode( '[convert number="' . $cost . '" from="gbp" to="usd"]' );

No difference I’m afraid…

One last suggestion before I go debugging… I’m wondering if the plugin is expecting a strict numeric in that position. What happens if you move $cost to a numeric field and then pass that?

Sorry, do you mean the ACF field is a number field rather than free text?

No. Try…

echo do_shortcode( '[convert number=' . floatval( $cost ) . ' from="gbp" to="usd"]' );

floatval converts $cost to a floating point value, rather than a string.

Sorry no, it comes back with a zero (but without the decimal points)…

Ok, leave it with me – I’ll do some debugging but it may not be for a few days.
