Convert existing native galleries to NG galleries?

    I am working on a client site with a lot of large existing native galleries on a few pages (they just kept adding more galleries in the classic editor). The pages/galleries are difficult to work with due to the slow load time in the editor (some not ever loaded so can’t change settings) so I need to switch to a plugin like NG to manage all the galleries individually.

    My question: I have the list of photo ID’s for each gallery. Can I use those to create NG galleries? Or can block galleries be converted to NG galleries somehow?

    NextGEN Gallery imports all the images to its own “ecosystem” and do not use the original images in the wp media library.

    There is not a way to convert galleries to NG Galleries unfortunately, unless there might be a 3rd party plugin that does this, but we do not keep track, recommend or endorse any of them.
