convert to webp and atach the webp image to posts

This is not possible in the free version of Smush. As mentioned here https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-smushit/ Convert to WebP is available in the Pro version only.

So I guess this is a pre-sale question. I’m sorry posting in the wrong place.

But in pro version, the conversion can work like I listed? Or it will use the png/jpg in the DOM but serves the webp when the page is loaded?

That said, you can find how the WebP will work at: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/smush/#local-webp in short it creates a copy of the file and redirect if the browser supports WebP then fallback if not.
