Convert website to WordPress

Hello all,

I realize that this is a bit of a broad questions but im just looking for some advice/ guidance on this subject.

I have a basic e-commerce website which displays products (Nothing sold through the website) which displays a list of categories. When a category is selected a list of sub categories is displayed. Each subcategory can then be selected and then a more detailed page for that product is displayed.

My client has asked me to convert this website to wordpress so he can edit product pages & blog etc..

I am fairly experienced in PHP & SQL but really am struggling to find good resources on how to go about achieving this.

Can anybody recommend some good information links or advice that will help me along the way?
