Converting 1000+ posts from Classic editor to Block Editor

  • We have about 1000+ posts from 2015 that are still on the WordPress classic editor. After upgrading to the latest WordPress version 5.9.1, these posts still remains on the classic editor.

    Is there any way to convert these posts from Classic editor to Block editor in bulk? Because doing them manually will require huge amount of time.

    I tried this plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/bulk-block-converter/

    But this one is not working with WordPress 5.9.1

  • One thing you could try…

    1. Create a backup of your current system
    2. Create a test site – either localhost or staging.
    3. Load WordPress v5.3
    4. Import your database
    5. Install the bulk conerter plugin – which should work with v5.3
    6. Perform the conversion and export your database back to your live system

    That’s what I would do but I would expect the pages will probably need further editing to get them right.

    Could you try to install “switch to classic editor or block editor” plugin in your system.
    Before that importing database.
