• Five years ago when my husband and I rode our tandem bicycle from Seattle to Boston I setup a WooTheme called Postcard which allowed me to put in an address for each post and then it put a pin on the map.

They no longer update the theme and it has increasing issues with WP updates. I’ve tried getting support and am frustrated. At the moment I can no longer add images to new posts!

So I’m considering remaking the site in another theme that I develop in, Divi. But before I do I’m looking at how I might be able to retain the maps.

So I found your plugin and I’m wondering if there’ll be a way to convert the entries EASILY to your plugin or will it be a manual, post by post, operation.

I just looked and I imagine they have CPT setup (I’m a designer not dev). But for each post I have the option to have map on or off and then I can put in an address which it plots or I can add Longitude & Latitude.

I’m afraid our site is forever stuck in this dead theme. I hope you’ll tell me a solution. Thanks.

  • Hi Sheila,
Maps Marker Pro offers several APIs (MapsMarker.com/mapsmarker-apis) which can be used to programmatically create maps – anyway this will require custom coding.
Our plugin also offers a XLSX importer in case you have a list of all points of interests available in list form for example.
    Hope this helps!

Thanks Robert. So is the importer also part of the Pro version? Would I be able to create the XLSX doc with all the points on my map and links to their posts and have it create the map? And once done any future posts would be added to the map? You say it requires custom coding. Is this something a non-coder can figure out or can we hire you to do for us? Would it be expensive?

    Hi Sheila,
The importer is part of the pro version, yes – you can give it a try at https://demo.mapsmarker.com and it works as you said: you create a xlsx file with addresses or longitude and latitude values and related markers are created on import. Link to related posts can be added as popuptext.
Future markers can be either added manually or by using one of the APIs (which are not suited for non-coders though) – unfortunately we do not have the ressources for custom developments, nevertheless perhaps one of our partners like wpruby.com can help you out here.
    best,
    Robert
