Converting static to post

First deactivate all plugins and revert to Twenty Twelve theme. Then make a test post with the categories that you want. Keep it that way till I have a look at what is going on.

Back again, what did you mean by revert to a twenty twelve theme?

Change to the twentytwelve theme and deactivate ALL plugins –

Ok I deactivated all the plug ins and slected the 2012 theme, lets see how it goes

ok I spoke to soon. It’s still not working, tried to make a new post on interview from the pit and it still showed up in up dates. Or am I missing something?

Go to Pages – do you have a page titled “Interviews from the Pit”?

Yes I do.

You can’t have a page and a category with the same name. So you need to change one of those.

So what do I do?

Change one or the other — do you understand the difference between static pages and posts? Categories are posts.

I think static pages will just stay as is while post pages you actually make posts?

Right – so your category posts WON’T show up on a static page… if you want this https://theconcertcruizer.com/interviews-from-the-pit/ to show up on a category page (not static page), you need to copy that text into a new post and give it the category you want.

You also need to delete that static page from the menu and ADD a category menu item instead – on the menus screen, look towards the bottom of the left column – see the “Categories” box – make a check mark by the category you want to add to the menu – then click “add to menu” It will show up in the menu box on the right side.

Then all posts with that category will show up on that catogory page (not as in static page).

It’s confusing because “page” has two meanings in WP – but they are VERY different.
