Converting Tumblr theme to WordPress

  • Does anyone know what the basic steps I would need to go through to convert a tumblr theme to a WordPress theme would be? I’ve never worked with Tumblr, but have a client who would very much like to have their site look like a tumblr they currently have. If possible, I’d like to be able to just rework the tumblr template, but I’m not sure how involved that is or if it’s commonly done. Other forums haven’t been much help. Thanks!

  • Not personally converted from tumblr to WP but it would be the same process as copying any other site to wp (copy the html, then add in the wp tags).
    As it’s a woothemes theme, you would need permission to convert it as the design would be their property but the actual conversion would be quite a simple process.

    Awesome! Do you know where I can find something that might walk me through that process? Never done a conversion before

    One good pointer I can suggest, is to view the source of the tumblr theme. Get hold of their CSS and make an HTML template out of it and just add the WordPress functions in this new HTML template.
