• Hi there awesome folks from Cerber!

First of all, excellent plugin do you have crafted here but seems there are some noticeable changes in the latest version that impacts the performance of the site with the latest version.

We have upgraded the from Cerber 8.5.x to the latest 8.6.5 and noticed that there is a performance hit because it seems the cookie is being set on every page load (Please see this screenshot https://www.screencast.com/t/5qEDgesB4RJ ) which was not present in the previous version that we are using.

Would it be possible that there is a check mechanism that the cookie will not be set once it is loaded similar to the example code in here https://pantheon.io/docs/cookies#cache-varying-cookies ?\

    Thanks!

  • We are also having this problem! Our varnish cache stopped working.
Maybe we can get a toggle setting for the offending cookies?

Thanks for the great plugin Gioni!

Although, I will say I went back to try what Carl said, the problem definitely persists back before 8.1 even. Seems that 8.2 tried to solve this by adding the cookie prefix field setting (which by most documentation I’ve found should be enough). But I guess my cache must be being busted by the same thing as Carl from above, from the cookies being set on every page load.

I think a toggle field for these cookies should still do it! But whatever solution you can get would be much appreciated!

    Thank you again Gioni

Hi! Yes, if the anti-spam engine is enabled, the plugin sets cookies on every page load. This may be disadvantageous to some caching techniques and plugins. A new, more advanced version of the anti-spam engine is in the works. Stay tuned!

In WP Cerber 8.6.5 a secure attribute was added to the cookies set by the plugin. We had to do this because it makes them a bit more secure, plus cookies set with no secure attribute will be deprecated soon in modern browsers.

Thanks for the reply @gioni, is there an option to disable the spam engine at the moment as temporary mitigation to the performance related issue?

Disable “Protect all forms on the website with bot detection engine”.
