• Wondering if there is a way to display a message regarding cookie acceptance? Google Maps will only display if the user has accepted marketing cookies (for those of us using cookie banners, such as Complianz). If the user has not accepted them, there will be a big blank space. Rather a bad user experience. Perhaps allow the user to specify a message in the plugin settings if the browser is blocking the cookies that google maps needs to operate?

It is something I could look at, indeed. I wasn’t aware that issue is creaked by cookie blockers. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Perhaps there is a cookie less option for Google maps. Always better to avoid cookies if possible.

Yeah, it’s really relevant for GDPR. I will also look at the configuration of the API services in my Google Dev account to see if there is a way to turn off marketing cookies for Google Maps. I know there is a no-cookie option for YouTube (when embedding a video in a webpage) but I’m not sure there is one for Maps. I’ll get back to you if I find anything out.

I believe I have found a method to serve Google Maps cookieless.

I have tested the new version several times and no cookies were dropped.

If you clear Complianz Cookies and rescan you should see Google Map API cookie n longer on the list. At least that is what happened for me, both checking manually and using Complianz scan

Be careful though as if you tell Complianz you are still using Google Maps it will still block the script – even though there are no cookies.
