Cookie issue with wp-login.php

  • Hi to all.

    This is a fresh installation of WP 4.7.5, just finished the setup on my own public linux server. wp-config.php has been edited only for the DB connection info, everything else is default.

    The default site opens ok, but when trying to login, I am getting the cookies not enabled issue. Since this is brand new, I dont have anything installed but what comes with the default zip.

    I do have a second installation of WP 4.7.4 on the same server, but different virtual server, path and DB. The wp-login for that site is working ok.

    Any ideas?

  • I am experiencing this same issue. Running version 4.8-RC1-40849. Upon the first attempt at logging in at the wp-login.php url it gives an error message stating that cookies need to be enabled, however they are. On this same screen with the error message if you attempt logging in a second time it will proceed without issue. Seems to be more of an annoyance than a major issue however I would still like to get it resolved too.

    My issue continues, refresh or re-login doesn’t bypass the issue. I have cleared the cache of the browser multiple times (even though it’s new, no caching should have happened anyhow), but to no avail.

    downgrade to 4.7.4, just to test, same issue.

    Could this be connected to the same server hosting another wp?

    I seem to have fixed the issue by installing a fresh version of 4.8. After a bit of research and digging around it looks like the login page customer application I had installed had misplaced text within the wp-login.php file. I am unsure as to whether the issue is with this one plugin or anything regarding wp-login.php at this moment, can someone confirm?

    Tried 3-4 different versions 4.X (even 4.6) with the same result. Due to urgency of the matter I have purchased a hosting account and setup 4.7.5 without a glitch.

    It seem’s to be a sharing issue, maybe for some reason cookies between the two sites are getting mixed up?

    I can try later on (in about 2 weeks) to test 4.8 (It’s still beta?).

    I also want to try the Multi hosting (Network) setup, maybe this will address the issue.
