    Hi @cstoll,

It seems like something is wrong with the plugin’s translation files. Could you try updating the translation files by navigating to Dashboard > Updates > and clicking the “Update Translations” button?

Let me know if that works.
    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi Jarno,

    thank you for your reply!

I’ve updated the translations through the dashboard, but unfortunately, the page is still in English.

Is there anything else I could possibly try?

    Thanks & all the best,
    Christina

    Hi @cstoll,

In the folder /wp-content/languages/plugins/ you will find some files named complianz-gdpr-es_ES. Please download a copy of these files as a backup, just to be sure that you can always revert to the old situation.

Please find the “new” translation files for Spanish here: https://we.tl/t-VmiHnHMw9H

Unpack the .zip file, upload the files to the folder /wp-content/languages/plugins/ and replace/overwrite the “complianz-gdpr-es_ES” files that are currently present in this folder.

Let me know if the Spanish document appears correctly upon doing this.
    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi Jarno,

thank you very much for the quick answer!

Unfortunately, it’s still in English after replacing those files. I’ve also tried to update the translations again afterwards and deleted / created the Spanish policy page anew.

Does maybe the fact that part of the date in the first sentence is curiously in Spanish provide any clue?

    Hi @cstoll,

    Can we try the following?

Under WPML -> String Translation search for: “A cookie is a small simple file that is sent along with pages of this website and stored by your browser on the hard drive of your computer or another device”

You will something similar to this screenshot:

    https://snipboard.io/IMdBPh.jpg

    Below you will find 2 options we could try;

Changing the language of the string or deleting the string. First try deleting the string, and see if it is translated correctly after saving the cookie policy (under Pages) once more. (Clear cache as well).

Otherwise, try changing the language of the string and see if this works.

Why this happened is another question, and I don’t know what transpired before this change, but because T&C works and Complianz changed a guess would be between those two installations you could have changes page builders, synchronization with Complianz, or a language setting changed and strings are mismatched.

    regards Aert

    Hi Aert,

thanks a lot for looking into the issue!

Unfortunately, this didn’t change things either – I tried both deleting this specific string as well as changing the language.

As for changes, we’ve only ever been using Elementor as a page builder, so nothing has changed in that regard. Curiously, on our staging site, it still works and we’re on version 5.3.0.1 on both systems.

Would this issue better be directed to WPML support?

Edit: Otherwise, I guess we can just manually implement the translations via String Translation…

    Thanks & all the best,
    Christina

    Hi @cstoll,

I would suggest asking WPML, our knowledge of troubleshooting translations if not on par with WPML.

Let us know if we can help in any way,

    regards Aert
