My cookie policy can be seen, but when I want to edit the page, after initially the entire text showing up until the page (Gutenberg editor) is fully loaded, when it is, the full text vanishes and gives room to “Keine Dokumente gefunden. Bitte stelle den Complianz Privacy Suite Assistenten fertig, um Dokumente zu erstellen.” In English, that would be roughly: “No documents found. Please finish the Complianz Privacy Suite Assistant, in order to create the document.” Going through the assistent until the end does not resolve it, however.

What I had done before was:

    – choose not to synchronise the previously automatically created document in order to edit it
    – edit the document (still everything ok then)
    – moving the document from the URL with the ending “cookie-policy” to the ending “cookie-policy”. Another plugin will have set an automatic redirect for me. With that, or somewhen after that, what I described above occurred. Now I have a policy that works for now, but I cannot edit it.

I also tried to reset to a version from a bit earlier but that did not have the desired effect either.

Of course, I could delete it and simply synchronise again, but I had changed so much that I would not really wish to do that.

So could you please let me know if you have a solution to it? I saved the permalink structure again, as I had seen that was advice to someone else whose policy had (altogether) vanished, but that did not seem to change anything.

    Hi @luckilyhappy,

I think the issue is changing the URL after you unsynched the document. Unsynched means Complianz cannot find or update the document, because the shortcode is gone. If you change the URL after, it, in essence, becomes a different page without any relation to Complianz.

Concerning the translations; this is a community effort and maintained by project translation editors, which translation is again checked by global translation editors. This should be a self-improving system.

If you want, you can suggest strings and modification here; https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/complianz-gdpr/. As I’m not a German translator I can’t approve any strings, so it will be up to the community to approve.

    Hi Aert,

Thank you for your response. But what do I do about it? I would like to edit the text visible when I visit the page, but when I press “edit”, it vanishes, being replaced by the message I gave above. How do I get the text back to actually edit it? Is it gone, despite being still visible in the edited form?

And: If I change the URL and edit it, will then the function to change one’s preferences also not work any longer?

    P. S.: After trying out much, I found out that I can still edit the policy it with the code editor, but when I am using the visual editor, the only words I can see are the title and the above-mentioned remark that no documents was found and that I should finish the Complianz Privacy Suite Assistant. Certainly that can not be intended behaviour, to disallow moving a page threatened by the consequence not to be able to use the visual editor, to put it dramatically ; ). So I wonder: Is there any way back to being able to use the visual editor, once one has switched of syncronisation and moved the page to a custom URL?

    Hi @luckilyhappy,

I presume you’re using the Gutenberg, or classic editors document settings to edit the page?

    See screenshot for Gutenberg: https://snipboard.io/7bGHhW.jpg

If you edit the page, synchronization will be off. This is because we update translations and legal text through the shortcode.

    Hi Aert,

No, I cannot use either the classic or the Gutenberg Editor any longer on this page. For, as I said, there is now only the note on that page, if I try using these, that no documents was found and that I should finish the Complianz Privacy Suite Assistant, in order to create the document.

However, when I use the code editor, than the text of the cookie policy – in code – becomes viewable and can be edited – in code. (I am not sure whether I have expressed it in such a way that you see what the problem is?)

I understand that synchronisation will be off when I edit the page. However, whereas editing and moving the page ended in what I have described, when I edited the cookie policy on my English blog, the text remained visible and editable in the Gutenberg editor. I do not need to turn to the code editor there. But I also have not moved the page.

I still do not think that moving the page should be allowed to have such an effect!

    P. S.: Just to address this: Yes, I do have switched it to “Dokumente bearbeiten und Synchronisation beenden”, i.e. to “edit documents and end synchronisation”, when I see (only) see the message “Keine Dokumente gefunden. Bitte stelle den Complianz Privacy Suite Assistenten fertig, um Dokumente zu erstellen.”

    Hi @luckilyhappy,

I tried to manage a picture of what might be going on, but I need to reproduce the issue or see it first hand to what’s going on.

When too many edits, switches, and changes have been made it’s hard to revert back to what might have caused the issue in the first place.

I would suggest deleting the page (also from the trash) and starting over. Complianz looks for the shortcode of the document on the page, or the Gutenberg block. If it changed between pages, and the URL changed in between, Complianz and I probably got confused.

If you need me to look further, please contact us on our website.

    Hi Aert,

    Ok, thank you!

Edit: I sent you an e-mail to the email-address of Complianz.
