• My WordPress installation automatically upgraded to 4.4.2. Now when I go to login, it just loops me back to the login form (and shows this: “Prove your humanity: 10 + 10 =”). I cannot login to the admin panel.

In my trouble shooting, I have tried to:
    – revert back to the default theme
    – turn off all plugins

When I do that, when trying to login again I get the error “Cookies are blocked” and it will not let me login. But my cookies are on – and another WordPress installation on my same server which has not been upgraded to 4.4.2 still works. And yet another installation on my server also got upgraded to 4.4.2 and is experiencing same issue.

Not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Yes tested in Chrome and Safari on OS X and IE and Chrome on Windows 7 – all had same error.

I wonder if this was a Jetpack issue. I assume you had that installed because of the “prove your humanity” on login.

    yes. I had Jetpack installed.

But on my new installation I still have it installed again and its working okay.

Many times I went into PHPmyAdmin and deleted the “active_plugins” option from the wp_options table – and that didn’t solve the problem either.

@maestro42 did you upload the files with ftp? If so were there any files missed, if you use Filezilla it tells you. Before you do anything I’d try reuploading all files and make sure they have the right permissions!

Then look at the links above and try some of the things in there.

I have to say I have never encountered this error myself.

    no my wordpress was auto-updated.

Ok well if it was me I’d download the original files and upload them. If that doesnt do anything then look at the links to threads above.
