    Hi there,

The cookies & consents widget works fine on the desktop version of my website (https://www.priceinthephilippines.com), but on mobile the button to close and accept is nowhere to be seen.

I could change the widget to close the banner itself after x seconds or after scrolling, but it would be nice to let visitors close it themselves.

Someone having an idea what could be the problem?

    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Tom

  • Hi @tominthephilippines,

I’ve checked your site but haven’t been able to replicate the issue you are describing. Which browser and device are you using when the button is missing?

Can you check whether the same problem occurs on another mobile device?

    Thanks!

    Hi Gemma,

Thanks for your reply. I already installed a new plugin which works perfectly.
The issue I had was on 2 android devices with Chrome I tested and I also tested the mobile responsive version on desktop with Chrome, Edge and Internet Exlorer. None of these had the button visible.

    Cheers,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for providing those specific details. We have seen this as a recent problem on WordPress.com-hosted sites. We’ve found that the problem is related to multiple instances of the widget being added to the site.

Can you confirm that you had only added the Cookie Widget to one widget area? If not, can you give this another try but only adding that widget just once?

We’ll be on the lookout for your reply.

    Hi Tracy,

Thanks for your feedback. I also want to point out that my website isn’t hosted on WordPress.com.

I just put the widget in one empty widget area and the result is the same unfortunately. Both on my phone and my laptop. When I make the Chrome window on my laptop smaller to test the responsiveness, you can see the button ‘slip’ to the bottom of the black box right underneath the visible area I believe.

Here’s also a screenshot of how it looks on my phone: https://ibb.co/dg3b7d

    Cheers,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for the screenshot.

My apologies for the confusion. I wasn’t meaning to imply that your site is hosted at WordPress.com, only that this is where we’ve been able to reproduce this problem. We haven’t had any other reports of Jetpack-connected sites experiencing this.

At this point, I’d like to run some more tests with you on your site to try to figure out what’s happening.

Would you please contact us through our contact form and mention this thread?

Thanks. We’ll be on the lookout for your message.

    Hello,

I am also having this issue.

On desktop it is fine but when viewed on mobile through safari, the button to close the message doesn’t appear properly and you can only see the very edge of the button.

    Could someone help please?

    Thanks
