Hello – I ran a scan by another cookie compliance product on a web site in which I had just installed Complianz which identified the following 4 marketing / tracking cookies on the above page not picked up by Complianz:

IDE doubleclick.net 1 year HTTP Cookie
RUL doubleclick.net 1 year HTTP Cookie
    log/error connect.facebook.net Session Pixel Tracker
    https://cx.atdmt.com/ atdmt.com Session Pixel Tracker

The initiator for RUL and log/error was given as the Elementor plugin that I use for the page header and footer. However, I have no idea where the other 2 cookies come from.

I cannot see any of these cookies in my browser inspection window. Can you explain why Complianz has not picked up the cookies?

    John

Hi John, When I visit your website, the only cookies I see being placed after consent are the ones that have actually been picked up by Complianz. So I cannot explain why the other tool picked up those other cookies. Could you share the name of the product you have been using?

Maybe these articles can also help in the meantime:

Hi Mathieu, It is Cookiebot, which I notice is one of the on-line testing services mentioned in the second article.

If it is any help, the actual initiators specified for the 4 cookies are as follows:

    `https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/viewthroughconversion/955875456/?random=1623929698128cv=9fst=1623929698128num=1guid=ONresp=GooglemKTybQhCsOeid=2505059651u_h=768u_w=1024u_ah=768u_aw=1024u_cd=24u_his=2u_tz=0u_java=falseu_nplug=3u_nmime=4gtm=2wg690sendb=1ig=1frm=2url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gofundme.com%2Ff%2Fgreat-telford-run%2Fwidget%2Fmedium%2Fref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wellingtonrotary.org.uk%2Fhn=www.googleadservices.comasync=1rfmt=3fmt=4

    https://www.wellingtonrotary.org.uk/wp-content/plugins/elementor/assets/lib/waypoints/waypoints.min.js?ver=4.0.2

There are many other cookies listed with GoFundMe given as the initiator, but I can see all these in my browser inspect window under the GoFundMe domain.

Hi Matthieu I have just remembered that the main reason I used Cookiebot was to see if the web site uses Google fonts. When I ran the Complianz wizard Google Fonts was listed with a tick but greyed out.

I have not consciously used Google fonts but wonder whether Elementor is using them for the page header or footer. Could these 4 cookies have been generated through Google fonts?

    Hi @armstrj1

Complianz detects the API call to load Google Fonts, which is why it is greyed out as a suggestion that you should probably tick the box. However, this API shouldn’t be the reason for these cookies getting placed.

I think most of these Cookies are being loaded because of the GoFundMe widget that is loaded before consent. You can wrap the GoFundMe widget in a consent wrapper shortcode to prevent it from loading the script unless consent is given by the visitor, please find our article on how to do this here:
    https://complianz.io/wrapping-content-in-consent-shortcodes/

    Kind regards,

    Hi Jarno,

Thanks for the suggestion. How would you categorise the GoFundMe widget? It would have to be as functional but this would mislead the visitor as consent would result in a whole series of statistics and marketing cookies being loaded.

    Hi @armstrj1,

The GoFundMe widget appears to load more than just functional (third-party) Cookies. Some of the Cookies placed as a result of this widget are categorized as Marketing/Tracking, so the user would have to consent to at least the Marketing category before the widget should be loaded.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi Jarno,

That is the conclusion I have come to. It is not ideal but the problem lies with GoFundMe bundling all the cookies together.
