Cookies are still shown in the browser developer tools after disabled it. Statistical and profiling Cookies shown in the browser after disabled cookies or Keep disabled cookies. The log files updates fine according to the action but cookies still shown in browser.

Is there any way that the cookie should be gone(not placed) after select disabled option?

    Hello @emossy,
sorry for the delay in this answer.

Due to security reasons, a software that is running on your server (your site with its plugins) can not directly manage cookies/datas of services/softwares that are running on different hosting.

For this reason, Smart Cookie Kit is not able to literally manage cookies of external services. The only way to manage cookies is to block/enable the services that install/use them. The consequence is that when a user choose to disable or keep cookies disabled, Smart Cookie Kit keeps disabled the services that use cookies: it should be clear, now, that if some service previously had installed some cookies, those cookies are still there, even if the service is not running anymore.

Please, let me know if you need other details.
    Nicola.

Thanks for your reply. _ga, _gtag is user tracking cookies by google services. It was working fine for first 2 days then when i tested in different browser then after disabled the cookies its still shown in the browser plus i can see Google Analytics tracking the user. Another thing is i am not using any software or any external plugin to install Gtag or google recaptcha codes. Do you think its because of some other plugins because i didn’t install any new plugin and it was working fine for first 2 days.

@emossy what do you mean for “when i tested in different browser”? What kind of tests did you make? Please, tell me step by step what test and how did you make them.

That’s correct if you continue to see cookies even if you have disabled cookies. That is because previously the cookie were enabled. If you delete cookies from the browser and you disable cookies then you will not see other cookies in the browser.

What is the site on which you are using my plugin?

It was working fine in Google and Google Incognito Mode for first 2 days.
During this time i didn’t open my site. Then after two days i test this plugin in Google and Google Incognito mode or “when i test in different browser” means in Mozilla Firefox, when i first enable it through Cookie preference banner, cookies placed it means consent banner works here BUT when i disabled it, then i should not be tracked by Google means my location or my data should be not shown in Google Analytics, am i right .? or cookies should be gone from the browser.

I have opened the site, choose to keep disabled cookies, and Google Analytics is not running. This is fine.

or cookies should be gone from the browser

This is not possible. The plugin can not manage cookies from other services. If you before choose to enable a service that installs cookies, if you then disable the service, the cookies are still there until they are valid. This is a security limit.

when i disabled it, then i should not be tracked by Google means my location or my data should be not shown in Google Analytics, am i right .?

Right. When you disable cookies, how do you notice that Analytics is running? By cookies in the browser or from the Analytics dashboard?

    Thread Starter emossy

    (@emossy)

    yes From Google Analytics dashboard.
First you choose to disable you can see cookies were not placed it means its working fine the first step is Okay. Next, when they enable and then disable it, Cookie preference for the user when they disable it, Google still tracking the user.

Okay, i understand plugin can not manage cookies from other service.

From Google Analytics dashboard … Google still tracking the user

Ok, we need to better understand the case.
    Let’s go deeply!

After that cookies are disabled, is there a page refresh?
    – If no: services are still running so it is correct that Google continue tracking the user. It is necessary a page refresh or that a user goes to another page to have the services blocked again (so, read the next case).
    – If yes (or after a page change): we have to consider that in Google Analytics there are “sessions” that are long about 20minutes. Maybe you continue to see the user in Analytics Dashboard until its old session is valid. At this point we can make 2 tests:
    1) a user disables cookies and then closes the site. Is he still in analytics after 20/25 minutes?
    2) a user disables cookies and opens another page. Do you see the new page opened by the user (in the real time section of Analytics) or do you see the visit in the old page?

Well many Thanks for your response and really very sorry for disturb you during holidays.
I will change my review as well.

    1. The problem was I installed two cookies plugin where one is yours and the second one is from someone, to give the user rights for delete or download their data. They also have a banner consent option and when i decline from there to not place cookies its working fine. Then, i deactivate that plugin and just used yours.
    2. I did something on my checkout page to show a consent box before a month ago, I changed that code and it Works.

    Thanks really appreciate your work.
