Hi and thanks to the whole team for the great badges plugin.

I’m currently working on a learning project where I’d like to create cooperative achievements.

Those “big achievements”, made of “steps achievements”, could be earned either by a single user or by a buddypress group of 10 users, putting in common different “steps achievements” they could earn separately. Once the “big achievement” unlocked by the group, all related badges would be earned by every members.

I would like groups to be created for that specific purpose, so a group creator would have to select a “Group Quest” to link his group to from the start, and once terminated that group would be deleted but each member would keep the related badges unlocked.

Does it seem like something possible and if yes how ? Are there cooperative achievements features already under development or in project ?

    Thanks so much in advance,

    Emilien

    Hi emiliengerbois,

This definitely sounds like stuff outside the current scope of what the plugin can do, but that doesn’t mean it has to stay that way, if it’s possible to build in.

The biggest component of what you describe above would be combining the step achievements of many people to help unlock the primary achievement created.

No “already in development” aspects that I’m personally aware of.

As a quick aside, this is evoking the image of a scavenger hunt in my mind, and I think that could be an awesome use for BadgeOS in general with the bit of work needed to make it happen.

Question for you, would you be willing to contact and discuss this project with the people at Credly, who are the company behind BadgeOS? It’d give you and Credly the chance to see if you’d like to help scope the project and help contribute to the development of such functionality. If willing to even just share your thoughts, you can use the contact form at https://badgeos.org/contact to send to Credly.

    Hi Michael,
    I hope you’re fine,
thank you for your answers and thank you for your support on that forum.

That’s exactly the way I mean to use it. As a matter of fact, a part of my job here in France is to imagine, build and manage such scavenger hunts so I agree when you say it would be awesome to use BadgeOS for that aim. I’d be glad to pay for such an add-on to BadgeOS, and I’d be glad to discuss the project further with you and the Credly team. Unfortunately I have no skills in development but I guess I could help with concepts, live testing and translations into french and italian.

I’ll post a message from the BadgeOS contact form and I hope this will be another evolution of that great plugin!

Thank you again and have a nice day,

    Emilien

Yeah, even if you can’t code at all, you can still contribute somehow. It sounds like you’ve already contacted BadgeOS through the provided form, so I’ll let them take it from here.

    Thanks.
