Coppermine upgrade?

Hello. I wanted to know if anyone here knew how to properly update their coppermine photo gallery. I know the coppermine web site has a page on how to it, but it sounded really confusing and I’m a newbie at this, so if anyone can explain to me how to do it, I’d appreciate it. The gallery version I have is 1.5.24 and next to it, it says stable.

I went on the cpanel for my site & I know you go to the phpmyadmin but as to upgrading the gallery, I don’t know how to do it exactly. Do I need to do a backup of my current gallery in case something happens? How would I do that?

Please help a poor girl out. All this tech stuff seems overwhelming. ??
