• Well what can I say.

I have been scouring the net for about 6 hours now and have found absolutely no solution for what should be simple.

I have a “master” install of wordpress completely configured the way I need it with about 4 custom theme’s.

I need to be able to get a cloner or installer so I can “clone” this main install.

Then just re-load it onto another domain, change the simple things like the new domain url, title, email etc. Then go from there.

But nothing around, I find it had to beleive that something like this hasnt been done yet?

Hopefully someone from this brilliant community can help me because I am completely lost.

I have checked out wpmu, and everything else similar to it but no luck unless I am blind?

    Thanks

  • Not sure if I am missing something here.

Couldn’t you just FTP the “master” install files to different domains, and then make the changes — title, url, etc. — through Dashboard for each new site?

For example, my site’s owner wanted the ability to do multiple installs of WP within different subdirectories of the main site. We installed the first WP installation in a subdirectory. When it comes time to add a new instance of WP on the site, I’ll just created a new subdirectory, and copy the first installation’s files to the new subdirectory. From there I’ll just go in and tweak code to make it reflect the details of the second instance of WP. I’ll probably do the tweaks manually in Dreamweaver, but I imagine you can do it from within Dashboard.

Yeah but its the database settings that matter the most, like completely configured plugins (15 of them) and other various settings.

Its for many of my members that need an easily configured wordpress blog but may not have the skills to configure the plugins they need.

So I need an easy solution to “give” them my master install with plugins installed active and configured.

    But nothing found yet.

They most likely wont have the skills to import database settings manually so that isnt an option either.

I completely understand your need. I have it to. I’d think someone here might have created a script for something like this.

Yup, that’s the problem for most of the bloggers who maintain multiple blogs. I too have the same problem.

I use a wordpress plugin to manage all the new blog configuration whenever I setup a new one. You can watch the video here on how to use the plugin.
