I have just created copies of every page I have in a very soon to be published new website. However I now see very much to my surprise that every URL has been changed with a “-2” added to it!
    /equipment-2/
    /equipment-2/spray-dryer-chiller-2/
    /applications-2/
And where page URL’s have not been changed they are now shown in my posts format

HELP!! I’m tearing my hair out

    Hi @johncpescod

Our plugin can’t change URLs of your current post/pages.
The only case may be that it creates new post/page with new slug and URL.

I can see that this post does not exist on your website anymore.

I don’t know what you mean by this: “I can see that this post does not exist on your website anymore.”

I’m far from an expert in WordPress but those URL’s above are what I see now after I clicked on my menu items and the pages have loaded…
I don’t know what the problem is, so I have asked my hosting provider to replace everything from the last backup from midnight.
I wanted to use the plugin to copy the pages as a backup for each page, but this has somehow upset everything very seriously (for my installation).
I can’t wait to try and figure it all out so I’ve chosen the least painful route with the latest backup. It means I’ll lose 8 hours work but that’s just the way it is..
In any case it’s good to see that you reply promptly to questions here.

So I have just had my web provider place the backup from last night (10/3/22 at midnight). Now I see that the CopyDelete plugin is no longer there, BUT the copies of the pages I made this morning around 11am are still there and causing the same problems? How can this be???

    Hi @johncpescod

I am a bit confused here.
If your hosting provider restored the backup from the time before you installed our plugin. There is no possibility that we could cause any issue before you installed the plugin.

The issue you experience isn’t well understood by me as well. Our plugin allows you to duplicate posts or pages, not backup them (but if you wish you can use copies as templates).

    You said:

but this has somehow upset everything very seriously (for my installation).

Could you please show me any error you received or anything that could allow me to identify the cause of it?

I am really happy to help you, but I am simply confused as it seems that the issue was here before you even installed our plugin (otherwise your hosting failed to restore it somehow).
