Summary: I love VP’s masonry layout and plan to keep using it, but I’d like to stop using its custom Portfolio category without wiping all my previous work and 20+ posts. I’m also having trouble mixing taxonomies.

I’ve been having several issues mixing the Visual Portfolio taxonomy with my regular blog posts (they won’t show in some tag clouds, or my folio navigation breaks if I click a folio tag and then a folio category.)

I imagine those must me fixable, but I thought it would be best to simply transfer all my Visual Portfolio items into my regular blog posts (then make redirects from the old urls, as necessary)

However, when using plugins to duplicate my folio items, they’ll show up as another portfolio item, not a regular blog post.

What is the easiest way to transfer those posts? Manually? Another plugin?

I tried disabling the “register portfolio post type” option in the general settings, however it seems like it simply hides those posts from my blog and my dashboard, so I couldn’t find nor copy then either. I re-enabled it and they were back up again.

    Thank you for your time!

My website (main page is a VP layout)

? A secondary issue related to the first one ?

This is one of the reasons why I’m trying to transfer those posts.

I have several portfolio categories and tags, like https://anebarone.com/portfolio-category/illustration/

However using a link like the above always redirects me to the front page. If I need to show a specific folio category as a link in another page, I end up having to use VP’s filter code, such as https://anebarone.com/?vp_filter=portfolio_category%3Aillustration (same page as above, but this one works)

However, my portfolio tag urls work normally. Like https://anebarone.com/portfolio-tag/worldbuilding/

If someone clicks a tag, and then a category, my portfolio will show only category posts inside that tag, thus hiding some of my items — it’s not an error, but not what I intended, and mixing the two taxonomies has been causing several changes that I couldn’t figure how to fix.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey.

You can try to use this example to transfer portfolio post types – https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-convert-post-types/

But you need to understand, that we prepared our archive to work with the Visual Portfolio block and display standard WordPress categories and tags pages automatically.

When you switch to display Posts, the Portfolio archive will not work in this way.

I see there is a bug with displaying categories pages when you select the Portfolio Archive page as Front Page. We will check this bug and try to fix it.

    Regards, nK.
