    I have a user trying to copy/paste from a plain text document to a new post in WPMU 2.8.4a. The pasted text does not show up in the visual editor and the HTML editor shows everything wrapped in hidden DIVs:
    <div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">

    I reset the plugins folder as directed here, but it had no effect.

    We updated to 2.8.4a last night from 2.7.1. I had previously seen one instance of this when a user copy/pasted from MS Word.

    Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thank you.

    What application is s/he using to create these documents?

    TextEdit.app in plain text mode.

    For what it’s worth, I opened the .txt file in Google Docs and the copy/paste worked. As did copy/paste from reading the .txt file into a new browser window.

    I’ve come across issues with TextEdit before. Someone on these forums had a problem with it and ended up switching to a different plain text editor. Would it be possible to try another editor to see if this is specific to TextEdit?

    Just tested from TextMate and had the same problem. My earlier tests w/Google Docs and the browser all involved copy/paste from within the application – Safari. Just tested with Firefox and had no trouble pasting from TextMate or TextEdit.
