I one complaint received from Pinterest about the following…
The file which was under discussion belongs to WordPress. Whenever I share some contents from my site, to Pinterest, I receive this complaint.
    Please help…
    ————————————————
    *** COMPLAINT FROM PINTEREST ***
    ————————————————
We’re getting in touch to let you know we received a copyright complaint and have removed one (or more) of your Pins. The complaint wasn’t directed against you or your Pin; it was directed against another user’s Pin of the same content from:

    https://wordpress.com/i/blank.jpg

While many copyright owners are happy to have their content on Pinterest, we recognize that some do not want their content to appear on Pinterest, or did not receive attribution for the content. When a copyright owner sends us a complete notice per the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), it’s our policy to remove the Pin(s).

Again, this complaint was not directed at you, or anything you did: we just thought you’d like to know why we removed your Pin.

Happy Pinning and thanks again for using Pinterest.

  • The image file you linked to is just a blank white square…

That’s almost certainly something you’ll need to get an explanation from Pinterest about and isn’t something anyone here can help you with.

But I came across the same problem with Facebook also.
Whenever I try to post a link of my website pages or posts on FB, it shows this white blank file (blank.jpg) on the post instead of the feature image of the post.
I had queried about the same to some IT people, they say that it has something to do with WP itself, since the path of the file belongs to WP only: https://wordpress.com/i/blank.jpg

Now I recall, that once upon a time, I had installed Jetpack, and from that moment this issue started. I had asked about this problem in the support forum of Jetpack. It is given on the following link:

I’m in miserable condition. Don’t know how to handle this issue.

Are you saying it’s built into WordPress core or a plugin?

Looking at the Jetpack topic mentioned, it seems that there might be a conflict between your theme and Jetpack. Did you try changing themes?

The blank image is generated by Jetpack whenever you share a post that has no image in it.

You need to contact Pinterest and tell them that any DMCA they have received against that URL is invalid, for obvious reasons.

I’ve emailed Pinterest’s copyright team to try to clear this one up in particular. We’ll see what happens.

    @otto

So who is making the DMCA complaint about a 200 x 200 white square or is it Pinterest automatically doing it?

I have no idea. I have not received anything back from them other than an automated reply, but then it is the holidays. I don’t expect to hear back from them for a while.

Obviously, I think that any copyright claims against a 200×200 empty image would likely be invalid. ??
