Copyright section text is disappearing (OR the custom color will not show up)

Hello, I have put text in the Copyright area but it keeps disappearing- I have checked dozens of times, and even changed the settings, and each time I make a change it shows up for the first view and then disappears for all subsequent views. You can actually click in the middle of the area and highlight the text but it seems that it is the same color as the background so it will not show up (I have tried changing the color in the customizer multiple times- right now it is set to white but is not showing). Help?
