My webshop is ‘crashing’ regularly. Every time the issue seems to be a ‘corrupted’ .htaccess file. When I restore the file to the default WordPress content, everything works again.

Searching on the web tells me that the issue is most likely caused by some plugin who rewrites my .htaccess file. But how can I figure out which one it is? Or maybe even better better; how can I prevent plugins from overwriting my .htaccess file?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @el-pablo,

Both WordPress and WooCommerce can rewrite your .htaccess file in order to set the correct permalink structure. But they do it only when you Settings->Permalinks and click Save Changes.

Other plugins that can affect your .htaccess file are caching plugins, please try to disable them and give it a try.

    Hi @el-pablo,

In addition to what has already been mentioned by @stefanue I would suggest installing a plugin for debugging. For example, Query Monitor includes advanced debugging features and it may help narrow down the possible causes.

    Hi there,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

Hi Mirko, indeed you can mark this as resolved. I hope I found the issue. Seems that indeed my caching plugin is causing this. I have now disabled it to see if the issue still remains. So far so good.
