corrupted database

i am in the process of transferring several WP sites from one host to another. the new host tells me that the database for my main site, one that has been up and running for 7+ years, has been corrupted.

i am a complete twit when it comes to really complicated, code-related stuff, but my new host wants to help. he’s way more advanced with the code stuff, but unfortunately he isn’t a WP kinda guy.

now i’m stuck. i can’t stay with my old host, and can’t move forward. surely, if my site is working while still with my old host, the database can’t be irreparably corrupt, right? so there must be a fix. any suggestions?

another one of my sites, now moved to the new host, won’t let me login. the site loads and all, but the admin login page is not recognizing my username and password, nor does it recognize my email address to reset the password.

as you can see, i need help big time. are there pros we can consult?
