• Morning all, I started a topic a while back regarding my plugins being deleted when when updating in wordpress.

Whenever i updated a plugin or theme, i get the “website is currently undergoing maintenance” then that soon goes to “this website is experiencing issues” and i get a link to go into recovery mode.

After logging into recovery majority of the plugins i use e.g Elementor, Form Ninja, All in One SEO. WordPress says that there is an error with these plugins and they need to be reinstalled. When i click reinstall WordPress shows that it cannot be installed as it already is installed. The only fix for this issue is to log into my FTP and to delete the plugins which are corrupted and then reinstall them.

As any user of Elementor can imagine, if someone has pages set up with that plugin and has issues with it or is deleted all the pages look like it was made in notepad.

My hosting provider said a few weeks ago said its a capacity issue and recommended i upgrade my services which i didn’t really believe so i declined. Shortly after my website really messed up which i had to basically delete it and start again, still got the same issues though so i’m really glad i didn’t upgrade. After ringing them again they said my name servers are with Cloudflare its their problem not theirs.

So i’m really stuck on who can help with this issue.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I looked at your DNS… the only thing there that I’d do a bit different is I’d have an A Record for the root domain and Cname the www to that (or you can keep the www pointed to the A record, too). That’s the way I do it until someone tells me a ‘GOOD REASON TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY!’.

Cloudflare has one of the best DNS systems out here so stay with them even if you decide to drop their proxy.

As to your host needing an upgrade? You do have a lot of ‘bells and whistles’ there including some plugins that might be causing some performance issues during uploads and updates.

I’d lose the music… very annoying.

Hi JNASH, Thanks for your comment, What do you mean by bells and whistles?

Also the music isn’t intentional, it must be coming from one of the videos, i had actually muted them -_-

If your WordPress installation does not manage CloudFlare you must use this plugin, restore the visitor’s IP, solve the https loop problems (to CloudFlare and the source domain), clear the CloudFlare cache when you modify or change something.
Attention ask your hosting if it is superfluous to install this plugin?

also configure your security systems (even plugins to use CloudFlare).
You can create a rule to prevent caching on the wp-admin path, unlike this guide it enables maximum security ( for more info security https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200170056 ) and does not touch anything else.

Bells and Whistles? Just anything that ‘fancies up the site’ and probably takes an extra bit of ‘horsepower’.

The info @autotutorial provided is all good stuff, too.

The Cloudflare plugin is good for tightening up your Cloudflare interactions but right now I’m more concerned about Cloudflare throwing 500 errors if your server is taxed too hard. Right now I don’t see any issues there.

The same with the Jetpack Cloudflare tweaks… good info!

I’ve no real experience with Elementor but if removing it causes issues then leave it be.

As to worrying about the https connection from Cloudflare to your origin server as mentioned by @autotutorial also… that should be done even though Cloudflare’s proxy hides your origin as if the proxy is later dropped you’ll expose your origin’s IP to the public Internet again.

That’s something that I am lax on with my own sites. But that’s on me <GRIN>.

If you find you need the better, upgraded server then keep in mind, ‘Horsepower is Cheap’. It’s cheaper to buy the horsepower now than to fix the issues caused by the lack of performance and to then ‘Woo’ back those visitors who are disappointed by your site’s speed and responsiveness.
