Hello everyone, I am writing to you here because I have a problem with the rates applied by shipping class.

When I add a specific rate, it is added to the base rate. Is this normal?

    An example :

My base shipping rate is: $10 * qty

My special rate for my expedition class is $5 * qty

When I put 1 product in the cart (the one with the shipping class) I have a price of $15 displayed. ($10 from the standard rate + $5 from my class). But I just want a $5 rate.

    Is it normal ?

If anyone can help me that would be great!

    Regards. Quentin

Here is the answer of the support : “There isn’t a built-in way to do this via the built-in Flat Rates shipping method, no. The scenario you’re describing would however be very straight-forward to set up via our extension Table Rate Shipping; that’s would I’d recommend for this use case.

Pfffff so to make Woocommerce work properly you have to buy an extension for $100…

In some cases it is really justified, but in fact Woocommerce calculation of the shipping costs per class is false, or is deliberately distorted to sell paid extensions…

So if anyone has a free solution, I’m interested.

You’re using the built in Flat Rate shipping method? Try:

    Set the Cost to 0
Set your ‘Expedition’ shipping class to 5 * qty
Set ‘No Shipping Class Cost’ to 10 * qty

    Hi,

You can also provide a shipping discount: How to Offer a Shipping Discount in WooCommerce.

My base shipping rate is: $10 * qty

My special rate for my expedition class is $5 * qty

Sorry, may I ask what are the conditions or the criteria that will trigger that special rate to be reduced from $10 to $5? Please provide more details to check this better.

    Thanks.

I make you a screenshot to explain it ??

    Thanks !

@ledukebx That’s how it’s supposed to work – the Class values are added to the base Cost value.

Set the ‘Cost’ to $0 – then the Class adjustments will be correct.

@seank123 Thank you very much, your solution works perfectly !

On the other hand, this does not prevent the calculation of Woocomerce from being false. (It is absolutely not normal to add the standard rate + the class rate)

Hope this helps anyone who encounters this issue in the future.

    Regards.

    Hi @ledukebx

I’m glad you were able to find a solution to your inquiry here! Kudos to @seank123 for sharing this! ??

As mentioned above that this is how the flat rate shipping works. You can learn more about that here: Flat Rate Shipping

    Hope this helps!
