Costly to start, costly to keep using

  • To start, let me just say that the plugin has some great features. However, compared to other equally great plugins on the market it is very costly and it keeps costing you money FOREVER.

    To start, I spent around $500 on the Dokan pro plugin and associated plugins (e.g. subscriptions etc.) I thought ok this is a 1 time fixed cost. An investment into the business. The Dokan people keep insisting, oh you can use the plugin forever – you just won’t be able to update it. Not a big deal. I was stupid and fell for that. Don’t BE STUPID LIKE ME. This plugin doesn’t work properly unless it’s updated. As soon as a new version is released, the old version (i.e. your un-updated one) starts acting funny. Now here is the best part: if you email Dokan support for help, their standard response is, please make sure your plugin is updated to the latest one. You’ve already built a site using the plugin. They’ve got you where they want you – paying forever and forever for something you’d get free from another developer or at 1/3rd the cost on here.

    Yes, we too agree that this price can be quite high for a startup. But considering the built in features and one year support this is not so much to pay. And as we are leveraging your development time and cost by adding features every month, the cost is worth it!

    Besides that, Dokan is based on WooCommerce. You may know that WooCommerce constantly updates their plugin. Thus, we have to keep up with them and update our plugin according to their new updates. WordPress, which is the main technology of all these plugins, also gets new updates. So, we work dedicatedly to make things right you!

    You bought Dokan plugin and other related add-ons once and you may think that you will need to buy it again after your license expires. But the fact is, you only have to pay 50% price for Dokan plugin. In the case of other add-ons, you don’t have to pay anything additional. However, you will get all the latest updates and support forever.
