"Could not create directory. /domain-www"

Using dashboard – find plugin.
Selected plugin and clicked “install”
Install page shows host name: https://ftp.domain.com (also tried: domain.com)
Password is as for epanel access. ftp selected.

I get message “Could not create directory. /domain-www”
Permissions on domain root are fine.

Suggestions? Had a look through the forum but no luck.
