Could not create directory..Please help.

  • Hello everyone, please dont ignore the text.I got a FTP problem or something, i don’t know it cause im really new at wordpress and programming.WHEN i try to update word press, or install new theme i enter ftp info and then got this:
    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-3.0.3.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not create directory.: /public_html/wp-content/upgrade

    Installation Failed.
    Please Heelp.Thanks.

  • It’s a permissions issue, and it’s probably best to do a manual update through your FTP client rather than start messing wtih adding/removing permissions on the server.

    Thanks CSD, but how to manualy change theme?I download a new theme, and with FTP client delete old one, and upload the new one’s folder that i downloaded into wp-content/theme. and when i try to go to my site nothing happens, white blank :((

    when you upload a new unzipped theme (not zip format )in themes folder it should show in your admin panel and all you need to do is activate it.

    If the theme not compatible could be reason why you getting error.

    @cancelis:

    Maybe you could also (if possible) mention which theme you’re trying to install.

    Sometimes it may be a theme issue… but as @govpatel mentioned, you need to activate it via your wordpress admin.
