Could not create snippet. Request failed with status code 418

Could you provide some examples of the snippets which cause this issue?

Like this, for example:

Could it be because the shortcode?

I’m getting this again as well. A content snippet like this produces the error:

@jrvcosta reverting back to v3.3.0 – is working for now. If you can’t find it, here’s my backup of v3.3.0

@bungeshea I’m guessing this might be the modsec issue again?

@bungeshea On all of my sites hosted on DreamHost shared hosting, anytime I use a version newer than v3.3.0 of the plug (at least until and including v3.4.2.2), I’m still receiving: “Could not update snippet. Request failed with status code 418” — for all snippets. Every once in a while saving will work, but most of the time it doesn’t.

Do you think it’s a configuration change I can make or request to Dreamhost? Thank you!

this is still a daily and ?nightmare! of an issue for me as of code_snippets_version: 3.5.1 on WP 6.3.2 on shared Dreamhost hosting

@lightbulbman @bungeshea I have the exact same problem on DreamHost sites using Code Snippets (Free) v3.6.2. You have marked this ticket solved but it’s not on DreamHost. Any ideas?

I was having the same issue, on Dreamhost. After downgrading to v3.3.0?it worked like a charm!

I confirm this is not fixed. Latest v3.6.2 free version on PHP8 server on dreamhost. I had to revert to 3.30

I’m having the same issue with Dreamhost hosting (PHP 8.1), WordPress 6.4.2, and v?3.6.2 of the plugin.

I can confirm that downgrading to 3.3.0 worked, but obviously, I’d like to keep my plugins up to date.

Agreed. Definitely not resolved. I’m still having it on Dreamhost shared and GoDaddy managed WordPress hosting.

One option is to contact Dreamhost and tell them you’ve got an issue with “mod_security” blocking some Ajax requests from your wp admin. They might be able to help by turning off mod_sec but this is also not ideal.
