• Normally I wait a while before commenting on anything, especially shifts in interface design because it takes time to learn new things. With WordPress’ Gutenberg, however, it only took us a few weeks to realize that it has killed WordPress for us. There is absolutely nothing to recommend it, and beware – it can break your site. For example, when switching back to the classic editor (because WordPress forces you into Gutenberg by default), we have lost the ability to edit certain pages. Gutenberg also is slower, buggier, and it takes much longer to make simple edits than the previous, superior, well-thought out interface.

We really did try to find a single positive thing, but it’s a lot of hassle and fussy design for NOTHING.

Gutenberg is another in an increasingly annoying list of developers making a major overhaul for… why? It’s like developers really don’t care about who uses their creations. We didn’t want this change at all, and if you force something on us we don’t want, at least make a good go of it – make it not awful and buggy and difficult to use.

I know you want to force adoption, but at least for us and our sites, it did the opposite. We won’t build new sites in WordPress. It’s just not worth the hassle. We’d rather look to a platform that is not trying to sabotage their users.
