• Hi,

I have just run in to major error – has anyone else encountered this: Could not insert term into the database…this is how it happen: I was attempting to add an additional function on function_php I saved, and then found all my categories had vanished (including Uncategorized). When I tried to add a category this fails with the error above.

Safe to say I deleted my changes in the functions_php and re-saved…refresh all, but the error still remains.

I understand that the error would be on the database side…but can’t see the error here (and I really don’t know my way around well), however I can see that my original categories are still with in the database.

I have already tried a database repair through wordpress, but no joy.

Can anyone help me out of this sticky situation? Would be immensely appreciated

  • Hey @emergingideas,

I don’t think the error resides in your database. You see the original categories there, so nothing is deleted. Without seeing the code, it sounds like you deleted or are missing a closing bracket or another operator in your functions file which is preventing the categories page to populate correctly.
