    Hi,
I did get the following message when users try to subscribe to a newsletter.
    “Could not instantiate mail function”
I did check the resolution on your website and none of them worked. I should also mention the test email did work, so php mail does work with my host, however it doesn’t seem to send users notification of confirmation. (strangely they are added to my list even though there a 2 step verification and no one gets any mail !)
    I’d appreciate any help.

  • Go to Settings page, Basics tab and make sure the Sender of notifications is a real email address that exists on your server.

    Let us know later.

If I was 5 when I posted that comment, I would’ve been graduated by the time I got your reply ??
To be serious, I did manage to fix the issue myself. In case someone ran into the same issue as I did :
I used an SMTP plugin to handle the mails being sent from my website, that has nothing to do to make Mailpoet work, that is just to make sure that the mails are sent out from your website correctly if your host has disabled mail() function.
So that means choose SMTP under mail settings (In MailPoet) and ask your host for the details if you don’t already know that. (It is currently under settings, send with, 3rd party [eventhough you are using your website(host) mail service)
I’d suggest to the author to add that in the FAQ, so people know. In case your host doesn’t provide that you may use a free email service (Google it,
To not promote any specific service I won’t write any name here).
I’ll let this topic be open in case the author wants to add anything to it.(I’ll close it in a couple of days so people in search can find it as a resolved post)
Thank you MailPoet support for your reply and reminding me of this topic.
