Could not open socket

We’re seeing the error “Could not open socket” now after the latest plugin update. We’ve reached out to our hosting, and they say the issue is not on their end.
The only issue they could find is a memory limit error (memory limit at 512MB) :Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 987136 bytes) in /home/preppercamp2345/public_html/wp-content/plugins/post-smtp/freemius/require.php on line 56Can you please assist? We’ve attempted changing ports, but no luck.
