There is an existing topic for this matter.

In my case, refund went through but my client got confused because of this error message:
    https://ibb.co/mJ4vsCL

And they tried to refund again and got the same message but in the process issued the refund 3 times:
    https://ibb.co/x2HF6Kh

This is a major problem that can lead to a lot of confusion for shop owners and customers. Overall, it is just a bad user experience and can cause great trouble if store owners try to issue the refund again and again.

I would suggest at least disabling the refund button when this error is returned so that owners don’t issue multiple refunds. And then try to fix the underlying problem. I believe Vivek (@vipelabs) has already pointed out the problem nicely.

Same here – WARNING – refunds ARE going through, it’s not updating anything to say it’s worked.
Just checked PayPal and can see I’ve refunded a customer twice, which shouldn’t be possible… thanks facebook

@fatpotanga – yes, and that’s more annoying actually. I think many shop owners may already have made this mistake. To be honest I don’t blame people simply trying to issue a refund and retry when this error pops up – we all do that now and then. But in this case it can really hurt a lot of businesses not only in terms of money but customer trust as well. No wonder why reviews are so bad for this plugin.

It is a CRITICAL BUG and I hope someone from the dev team thinks the same and respond here or on GitHub.

It’s not updating anything to say it’s worked.

Order notes still show the refund status (https://ibb.co/x2HF6Kh) but the problem is that you have to refresh. If you do not and try to issue a refund again (which you can do since buttons are still on the page, and yes they are clickable), voilà, you issue another refund. And that’s exactly what happened in my case and possibly in yours too.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your feedback here and I’m really sorry for any frustration this has caused. We’re aware of this issue and we’re currently working on this and gathering more information — your feedback has been really helpful in this.

Please note what @fatpotanga said. Your refunds are still processing. To confirm, please check your payment processor’s account for the orders that you refund or void.

We’ll be sure to provide updates as soon as we progress.

    Thanks!
