    Hello,

I’m encountering difficulties connecting our user account to Jetpack on our live site, https://stories.purdue.edu/. Upon attempting to connect, an error message appears: “An error occurred. Please try again.” You can access the xmlrpc.php file for this site here: https://stories.purdue.edu/cms/xmlrpc.php.

Could you please investigate what might be causing this issue? Interestingly, our account connects without any problems on our test site, https://stories.test.purdue.edu/, which shares identical configurations with our live site. It seems that Jetpack consistently identifies the test site as the default, despite the live site being our primary platform.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

    Best regards,
    Yanhua

    Hi @purduemarketing

I made an adjustment on our end that should fix this issue.

Please delete Jetpack and then reinstall it. This will cycle the connection and should fix the issue. You can follow these steps to do that:

    1. Start at PluginsInstalled Plugins.
    2. If Jetpack is currently active, click Deactivate to disable it. Then click Delete to remove it from your site:
    3. Go to Plugins  → Add New.
    4. Search for “Jetpack – WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth”.
    5. Click Install and then Activate.

When Jetpack is installed, click the green Set up Jetpack button to reconnect.

This handy guide explains that process in more detail:

    https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack

You shouldn’t lose any settings or any of your stats or subscribers in doing so, as that info is stored in our system here.

Also, is the stories.test.purdue.edu a staging version of stories.purdue.edu? If so, we recommend that you use Jetpack’s Staging Mode to prevent potential issues in the future:

Let us know if you still have issues after reinstalling.

    Hi?@purduemarketing,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
