Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work. Whatever I tried, it would not sort by my custom field. Tried a number field (all unique numbers), a text field (hoping for alphabetical ordering on that) etc. But sadly no luck.
I now hoping that Elementor get their sh*t together and build this option in like any other decent pagebuilder has long done.
    Thanks though!

Came here to investigate the same thing. It’s not working for me either. I have an ACF number field called “sort_order”, all unique values, etc. But it has no effect on the output.

I’m going back to Dynamic.ooo as this stuff is built in.

And 100% agree that Elementor needs to expand on their loop query functions. Using the default wordpress options is antiquated when dealing with ‘custom posts and custom loops”

Same issue here! Dynamic order by on custom fields used to work, but isn’t know. Unsure if this is Elementor or this plugin causing the issue?

Solved my issue – was the Post Types Order plugin causing problems (had to turn off the ‘auto’ sort feature where it adds its menu order sort into EVERY query…. then manually set every post widget to sort correctly as the occasional one was wrong).

    Auto Sort

If checked, the plug-in automatically update the WordPress queries to use the new order ( No code update is necessarily )

If only certain queries need to use the custom sort, keep this unchecked and include ‘orderby’ => ‘menu_order’ into query parameters.
