Could this be why the WooCommerce variable products are no longer displaying the ‘Add to Cart’ button on my client’s site?

When I load a variable product page, it’s throwing an error when I view it in Safari / Web Inspector:

Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: .mobile_menu > ul > li.has_sub > span.mobile_arrow, .mobile_menu > ul > li.has_sub > h3, .mobile_menu > ul > li.has_sub > a[href*=#]

I can’t help but think this may be related, though admittedly I’m viewing this not on a mobile device as the error being thrown would imply.

@cantonjester Yes, that sounds like a very similar error. I would contact that plugin’s author and see if they have an update for you.

We’re not talking about new features or enhancements, but simply fixing a prior bug that was sold to users.

I realize that, in most situations, once you stop subscribing to a product you are no longer entitled to receiving updates. This makes sense … in normal situations.

Except that Elegant Themes Divi is NOT LIKE NORMAL wordpress themes that you can deactivate … a complete page by page redo of your entire site is required. This is not normal for wordpress, nor is it explained to the less-than-technical designer community ET (and wordpress) claims to serve.

Complete reconfiguration of a website is not easily doable once you’ve invested your website budget of time and money … and so we arrive at yet another oddly wordpress-enabled scam. Elegant Themes works to force alienated users to pay ransom on what they already paid for: it is blackmail. I will not pay a cent to them.

Frankly, sadly, the wordpress ‘community’ seems a bit of a hoax at this point. It has for some time now allowed merchants to appropriate the good work and reputation of its contributors, and a poor change of image is happening as a result. Deservedly so.

I would not have trusted this ET operation if it were not associated with WordPress … sponsorship of such shady business practices deters loyalty in the extreme. Poorly done. Very poorly done.

I have registered here just to post this. I am using Divi 2.1.2 (2014), and since entire website has been built on that version, and we have done some changes in header and footer in that time (added locations for new menus, etc.) now I can’t update the theme. By updating to WordPress v4.5, I got the same issue like everyone else (probably because of new jQuery). I have searched entire theme/plugins for any href* thing, but nothing fixed the deleting sections issue.

@milivojac – did you get chance to find the solution for Deleting the sections?

@elegant Themes – I have version 2.1.2, I can’t do theme update, since I have modified the footer/header. Can you point me to the right direction, what can I change to make it work again. Your answer will help other users as well, since I am not the only one that has been searching for this answer for days ??

You need to look into using a child theme. Go to elegant themes’ site and search for a post about it in their blog.

You won’t be able to delete sections but you can disable them on all devices – ummmmm – crap – I don’t think that feature was available in 2.12 was it?

Are you a current member of ET?

If you are they should be able to provide a fix (try asking in the forums).

If you’re not (as I wasn’t when I first posted this – paid their ransom money finally) they will tell you basically “tough luck – you must pay”.

You’re going to have to eventually move to a child theme though….as much as that will suck to do. ??

Updating to latest version of Divi solved the problem on my client’s sites: https://hudsonbaymountaincabins.com and https://peachlandbeachrentals.com

@elegant Themes – Divi is not automatically update-able from the backend. So this means rebuilding the site in the latest version of the theme?

We were able to download latest Divi, preview, and activate without any fixes required. This move solved the missing images problem.

For those of you that are having images/javascript problems go to
wp-content/themes/your-theme/js folder and edit custom.js

Run a search for $( ‘a[href*=#]:not([href=#])’ ).click( function() { and change that line to $( ‘a[href*=”#”]:not([href=”#”])’ ).click( function() {

My problem is not at front-end, website looks normal, but back-end part is in mess. I have tried to fix it like everyone else, like @lramos mentioned above, but nothing, that’s not the issue in my case. I am not sure if I am allowed to share screenshot?

Also I have searched for any [href in all files, that’s not issue ?? it’s something else, but not sure what. I will probably need to or reBuild entire website, or to revert to 4.4.x.

Oh a Divi issue, make sure you are using the latest version, as Divi updated their theme to be 4.5 compatible and you’ll have a bad time until you install that update ??
